Claiborne Parish is located in the state of Louisiana. It was founded in 1828, the parish seat is Homer (which is the largest city) and as of 2000, the population was 16,851. The parish is named for the first Louisiana Govenor, William C.C. Claiborne. Two Louisiana Commissioners of Agriculture and Forestry have roots in Claiborne Parish: Dave L. Claiborne Parish courthouse is a classic example of Greek Revival architecture. It is one of only four antebellum courthouses that is still in use today.
